Many ultralight backpackers have moved to alcohol stoves for their light weight, simplicity of use and ability to precisely meter the amount of fuel carried. There are numerous plans on the web to allow you to build your own, but if you want to buy a beautifully crafted stove hand-made in the Pacific Northwest, we offer stoves by Mo-Go-Gear. Mo-Go-Gear uses custom jigs and equipment to obtain a durable press-fit without the use of epoxy.
If you're like us, and use your titanium cup for solo cooking, the standard alcohol stoves can be inefficient because the flame is mostly outside of the cup bottom. The Fire-fly™ is made exclusively for Gossamer by Mo-Go-Gear, with a smaller diameter for smaller cooking vessels. Don't be fooled by it's diminutive size - the Fire-fly™ can crank out the heat!
The stove is made out of 100% recycled materials, and comes packaged with a unique stand, optimized for the stove, that is foldable for easy storage, and also uses recycled materials (30%). The stand holds your cup or pot at 0.75" above the stove, which exhaustive tests have proved eked the best performance from the Fire-fly™. Also included is an R-Guard windscreen, constructed of 36 ga. (0.005") soft-tempered aluminum, and a 4" by 4" reflector for under the stove. Think of the material that comes with the MSR Whisperlite, then think lighter. Windscreen has holes along the bottom for ample air flow to maintain peak performance. Stove comes packaged with the stove, stand, windscreen, reflector, fuel measuring cup and instructions for use in an attractive container.
