San Rafael Wilderness - 2007
Jake heading back to South Fork from down the Sisquoc River. The whole group at the top of Manzana Falls, before splitting up. The cliffs behind were full of swallow nests. From here, Rik and the stricken Paul hiked out, ending up in the dark. Glen and Jake spent the night near this photo location.
L-R: Jake, Paul, Glen and Rik. "Alpenglow" on the cliffs above Glen and Jake's snug campsite.
This was a beautiful little campsite, sheltered under oaks and behind huge boulders. Jake continuing his education with a lab exercise, the hanging of the bear bag.
As the sun sets, Glen and Jake hiked up to the base of the cliffs above the campsite. The campsite is in the lower left of this photo. Notice anything in the rock? The sun sets as the swallows wheel in the darkening sky.
End of another fun day in the backcountry. A close-up of the natural rock 'face' guarding the campsite. It was easy to believe this spot had special significance for the Indians, and there was some evidence of that.
