If you're looking for the perfect hydration system to complement your Gossamer Gear pack, we recommend a Platypus Reservoir by Cascade Designs. These hydration systems are constructed of a durable triple-layer laminate with welded assembly. They weigh much less than more traditional rigid water bottles. When not full of water, they collapse to save space, allowing you to have additional water-carrying capacity for waterless stretches of your trip. Your water comes out taste-free (at least if it went in that way) thanks to the food-grade polyethylene lining.

The Reservoir includes a platypus bottle and a screw-on closure cap. For a complete system, order the Drinking Tube, which includes a Platypus drinking tube, a HyperFlow bite valve and a Lapel Clip. We carry the 2-liter and 3-liter sizes of the Reservoir. The 2-liter size fits perfectly into the side pocket of a G4 or G5, or the long side pocket on a Mariposa. The hydration pocket on the inside of the Mariposa pack will fit either the 2-liter or the 3-liter Reservoir. On your G4 or G5 pack, to carry your water at the minimum moment arm (closest to your center of gravity), try filling a 3-liter Reservoir with only 2 liters, so it maintains a flatter shape, and slipping it between the front of your pack and the sleeping pad frame. The sleeping pad keeps it cool, and your water puts the minimum strain on your muscles.
