Titanium is well known for its high strength to weight ratio. Tite-lite(tm) stakes have nice gentle points on them, so they don't puncture your lightweight pack.

Made from .340" (9 mm.) diameter T9 aluminum tubing with a solid aluminum head and a durable swaged point, the Easton aluminum tent stake is bombproof. For less than a half-ounce, these aluminum stakes provide a beefy 6" or 8" of holding power, with a head that you can use a rock to bang on for hard ground. The head has a hole with a small cord attached, which is a big help in pulling these out of the ground.

Gossamer Gear sells it's own high quality titanium Tite-Lite stakes, in a package of 10, bundled with 2 Easton aluminum stakes to create the perfect all-season, all-terrain ultralight tent stake package. We now offer two stake packages, one with the 6" (15 cm.) blue stakes and one with the 8" (20 cm.) gold stakes, together with the 10 Tite-lite titanium stakes.

For the Spinnshelter, we recommend a minimum of 8, which gives you a stake at each of four corners, two guy lines, and two vestibule stakeouts. You may want to consider getting 12, which gives you extra stakes for fastening additional stakeouts or extras in case you leave one behind. This allows the use of all five stakeouts on the windward side of the tarp. For higher winds and added security, additional stakes would be an asset.
