Glen will again be joining Dimitri "Coup" Coupounas (Golite co-founder) and Ryan Jordan (BackpackingLight) for an on-trail ultralight clinic at the Continental Divide Trail Alliance 10-yr. anniversary celebration in Keystone Colorado. The ultralight clinic is first thing in the morning, after that Glen will likely be hanging around the Golite booth area. Glen will also combine some PCTA Board business meetings while in the Boulder area.

Glen will be heading up an Advanced Ultralight Backpacking Course through www.wildernessoutings.com, formerly associated with Adventure 16. Hone your ultralight backpacking skills, learn new tricks, try out different gear and techniques in the incomparable Sierra Nevada. Wilderness Outings will provide a dinner and breakfast, tents and tarps, water treatment, and maps and compasses. This will be a great trip through some gorgeous territory, either on-trail or cross-country depending on the final makeup of the group. This trip is expected to fill, so register early!

Glen will be doing some "mop-up" on a missing (for him, that is) section of the PCT with his longtime friend and hiking buddy Read "Speeder" Miller. The plan is to start with Section E (Agua Dulce to Tehachapi - probably southbound), then look at continuing north of there, and/or doing Mt. Baden-Powell. Glen's goal is to be carrying a sub-four pound base pack weight.

7:55 p.m. The Wilderness Basics Course is a 10-week course held at the Scottish Rite Center in San Diego. Glen will be presenting a brief segment on ultralight packing. The class is held on Tuesday nights and is typically attended by 225 to 300 adult students per year. It runs from the end of January through March.

Pluggin' away at the PCT, knocked off his missing part of Section B, with his longtime hiking buddy Read Miller, with special guests professional photographers Robert Burroughs and Earl Cryer.
February 22 - 23, 2003: Backpacking on the PCT - Pioneer Mail to Hwy 78
Tentatively planning to do this piece either as a day hike, or as an easy weekend shakedown with a friend planning to thru-hike the PCT this year.

Feb. 1, 2003: Pacific Crest Trail Association Annual Meeting
Internationally famous mountaineer and adventurer Jim Whittaker will be the featured speaker. During the day, there will be a variety of trail classes, including a session on "Packing Light" by Glen.

Glen attended the American Long Distance Hikers Association West Gathering this year, had a great time meeting personal hero Brian Frankle in person, tons of other great people. It was a treat rooming with Brian and Roy Robinson. Slides of the CDT were stunning.
