CPA nerd by profession, mountain man at heart, Steven “Twinkle” Shattuck has two main outdoor passions: Long distance hiking and mountain climbing. Steven hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2014. Upon finishing, he flew out east and hiked from Hanover, NH to Springer Mountain in GA, totaling 4,400 trail miles in one year. In the previous year, 2013, Steven climbed 49 of Colorado’s 58 mountains over 14,000 feet. Steven plans to hike the CDT, finish the AT, and climb the 100 highest summits in Colorado (Commonly called ‘Centennials’).
Prior to his epics, Steven backpacked the Colorado Trail, Long Trail, High Sierra Trail and the John Muir Trail (twice) while working his way through College in Michigan. He quickly learned that with a busy corporate job, he needed to minimize his pack weight in order to maximize his enjoyment. Lightening up allowed for more miles, more summits, more scenery, more laughs, and more opportunities to be in places you otherwise wouldn’t get to enjoy.

The Colorado Rockies are where I spend most of my time between major trips. I am usually hiking on the Colorado Trail and climbing the high peaks!
