NEED POLES FOR THIS TENT? FIND THEM HERE
"Just wanted you to know. I just returned from Maine where I used "The One" on the AT for 10 nights. The second day on the trail we were hit by a pretty nasty storm late in the afternoon. We decided not to summit and found a small spot on the exposed rocky side of the mountain that would hold only one tent. I quickly pitched "The One" (space was actually too small to pitch it using the guy lines, so I
staked corners down) and the two of us squeezed in. It rained and the wind gusted all night at around 35-45 mph. There were times that I thought the tent would be ripped apart or go sailing away off the mountain but it held up very well. We both slept warm and well. We had some condensation but that was to be expected and was no real
problem. Great tent. Thanks Gossamer Gear.

"I am a 2009 PCT thru-hiker currently at mile 906.6. I go by the name Iceaxe. I just wanted to let you know what a resounding success my Gossamer Gear One tent has been over the last seven Sierra passes, five of which under hail, snow, and rainy conditions. The tent has proven to be extremely durable and easy to pitch. It stays taut and even if I do find the need to "tension" it a bit when the snow builds up, I found I can acomplish this task if I simply pull the front pole (trekking pole) support slightly more vertical while still inside my sleeping bag! The tent has been extremely quick to dry during the momentary sunbreaks afforded me. I also learned that by tilting the front support pole outwards at the top and shifting the floor towards the back wall I can leave the door wide open even while it's raining and stay dry. The vestibule has been a life saver for keeping my pack and gear dry. Thanks for a great well made product. Worth every penny! Cheers."

If you're looking for full protection for a pound, The One™ is your ticket. Generous bathtub floor, full mesh enclosure with zippered entry, and zippered split beak provide plenty of room for the solo hiker with gear inside and outside. Multi-support design means you can use your adjustable trekking poles, fixed length trekking poles (120 - 130 cm) or available segmented tent poles to set up your One™. Six stakes (not included) and an easy setup means you'll be snug in your shelter in a minimum of time and effort. Our EZC2 guylines are highly visible day and night with new reflective tracers. Our time-tested spinnaker fabric keeps the rain at bay, while a protected rear double vent coupled with the beak clearance and perimeter mesh provide for ample ventilation. Then there's the nice extras: a clip to hang your mini flashlight and illuminate the shelter and vestibule, a mesh bag for your reading glasses and whatnot, and loops so that a drying line can be rigged.
NOTE:
We have changed the floor design just a bit for 2009 and have left off the lines that connect the floor to the roof corners. The floor will work fine without tying it down or securing it with stakes, although this is possible. We've raised the attachment points of the mesh side and front panels to the roof and rear wall so that the sides of the bathtub floor will be held up and in place by the mesh. We have put grosgrain loops on the corners of the floor in case you want to stake them out with stakes. We've also included 15' of our old ECZ1 line if you want to use this to attach the floor corners to the roof corners or to the stakes that are holding the floor corners, like last year's model. This makes the setup quicker and easier and allows more flexibility of how you utilize the floor setup. The floor can be secured by just putting a heavier piece of gear or a rock or something in each corner.
The design goals of The One™ were to provide a full-protection, single wall shelter that a tall person could easily sit up in (without having to crowd into one end of the shelter), with room inside for some gear, well-ventilated with a good-sized vestibule, allowing flexible pole options for about a pound. Glen has been toying with various design solutions for this since 2003. In 2007, after a trip with longtime customer and talented gear tinkerer Rik Christensen, Rik showed Glen a shelter he had made, and the resultant exchange of ideas helped mold the final shape and feature set of The One™. To help mitigate the wind profile of a high shelter, the rear is canted to help shed breezes. There are additional tie out points along the rear edge and the tent can be secured to the rear pole to provide additional stability. The computer-designed catenary cut lines allow for a taut setup. Strategic 70d reinforcements spread the stresses while maintaining minimum weight.
We recommend seam sealing, as a minimum, the ridgeline and rear roof lines of The One™ with either Silnet or a painted-on homemade mixture of silicon sealant and mineral spirits. Since the floor of The One™ is the same lightweight spinnaker as the body of The One™, the Squall Classic and our tarps, we recommend always using a Polycryo groundcloth to protect it. The One™ ships with a 2-pack of the medium Polycryo included.
