Gear Notes

We’ve updated our lightweight material to a more eco-conscious option: PolyEarthylene®. This USA-made biobased polyolefin can be recycled in existing curbside systems or completely biodegrades in an active landfill environment. Major grocery stores offer specialty bins that guarantee proper plastics recycling when your local curbside system may vary.

As with most ultralight materials, PolyEarthylene® performs best with reasonable care, offering a durable and lightweight waterproofness from campsite to campsite.

Ive used the Clear Waterproof Pack Liners on 2 of the past thru hikes. On long trips keeping your clothes and sleeping bag are important. I learned the hard way, that packs are not water proof, particularly in prolonged rains. The liners usually last about 2 months or so. Eventually they do get holes in them, so for a full 5 month thru hike, you will likely need 2. The Liner shown in the picture was on the 2 month trip on the PNT ~1300 miles. The pack shown is a ULA Ohm, with about 4000 miles on it. the new liners are for this Summers hike.

Pretty good wish it came with more than just two

A perfectly large pack liner

I believe the liners will work just fine I just wish they were longer/taller. So they would extend to the very top of the space available on the pack

Fabulous product, more than I expected. I will be ordering more products from them!

I have not been fully satisfied with the turkey bags I have used to date. Thought I would give these purpose designed pack liners a try instead. I will update my review as needed once I spend more time on the trail with them. But initial impression is these will permanently replace my turkey bags.

Kept everything dry: an excellent product.

Quality is good. Tough and versatile. But I think they need to have multiple sizes. I need larger ones to fit in bigger packs so I can use them to line my duluth packs when in boundary waters when weight/size doesn't really matter. But if just using for a day pack they work great.

They could be a little taller and wider, maybe 12 inches in both dimensions, but at least they're not insanely large like contractor bags. They seem sturdy and the plastic is quiet, not crackling like some liner bags.

Love these liners, I’ve used them for the PCt & CDT and will probably continue buying them. Perfect fit inside the backpack and has kept all my things dry.

Not even able to be used with Gorilla 50. It's WAY too small. These liners are not wide or deep enough to be used in anything other than the smallest backpacks. When put into the Gorilla 50 you lose a ton of room because the backpack is way deeper and wider than this liner. I am actually pretty perturbed that Gossamer Gear doesn't offer a liner that fits their expensive packs.

Too length is great! Width and depth are too small for my Gorilla although I like the weight and the fact that they are see through! Please make a bigger version!

I wouldn’t call them pack liners, they are actually transparent long plastic bags

Perfect. There is a reason I’ve ordered this more than once.

I get over a thousand trail miles out of these. Clear. Light. Tough. Block scent. Waterproof. Reasonable in price. Can tell when one has finally worn.

The quality is there for sure, but it felt a little narrow. Then again, I can’t say it hindered my ability to actually put anything into the bag. It just felt like every time I took something out, the bag wanted to come with it. But, it’s also probably the best pack liner option I’ve used and I bought another round for my other pack and daypack.

Never received it???

Light, not used yet - hopefully durable n waterproof

Perfect size for Patagonia 32L Black Hole and Trango 30L Alpine pack. Thicker/stronger than your average plastic bag. Works well.

All products shipped as expected. 1/8 “ pads very versatile and useful. Pack liners light but durable. Shipped from USA to U.K. in a few days, prompt delivery.

I would love these more if they came in larger sizes to fit my 65L backpack. Still a great multifunctional set of bags.

They're a bit smaller than i expected. Not sure what i was expecting to be fair tho. I guess I can always use two in my bag for different stuff

They seem perfect, and perfectly reasonably priced.

Pack liners beat covers hands-down. They work even for canoe packing. They are lighter than pack covers which honestly don’t work well. I tinker, and tested pack covers for several years in real-life conditions. Pack covers always had failures, and no amount of tinkering could fix them. Gossamer Gear liners ate properly sized and durable. Perfect.

Thick clear bags to fit Gorilla pack- nothing special but kept everything inside dry. Need to use a clip or some other way to close it- it's an open top bag.

Early review, have yet to try out the pack on a hike. So far all my equipment fits with plenty of room. Really excited by the design, cool pockets, and light weight. Can’t wait to test it out on the trails.

These bags have saved me a lot of wet clothes and headaches! Totally worth the $10!

Quieter than nylofume, more durable than a trashbag (survived my AT thru-hike!) I found Gossamer Gear's polyethylene liners superior to the other two common options of nylofume or compactor trash bags. Nylofume is great until you find yourself loading or unloading your gear at a hostel/campground with anyone else present (that horribly loud crinkly-potatochip-bag noise will wake them all), and trash compactor bags are ridiculously expensive (unless you actually own a trash compactor) and more easily torn. I finished the Appalachian Trail still rocking the same GG pack-liner that I started with - zero tears or pinholes after 2000+ miles last year.

Very pleased with quality

Looks great! Haven’t tried them out yet but I’m sure they will be perfect

Never received this order.

as advertised

Got my pack perfectly

Strong But Small Liner is light and strong but a little short for my 38L pack. One is good for a warm weather overnight trip but for multi day trips or cold weather trips with extra clothing you need both liners. It’s 48L but you need to roll it up a few times to keep the dampness out.

Strong and works! Great, keeps my stuff dry on the trail.

Light, no closure Takes 2 for the 60L , does not come with a closure- just open liners, strong product and works as advertised!

Easy enough They have held up to some rain and snow during my trips and kept the inner contents dry. Perfect

Seem strong enough One works for a smaller pack and when using a 60L I use two of them to protect everything.

Perfect I have used this on several trips on the AT. Despite being ridiculously light weight, it has held up and is till going strong. A great value. Perfect!

Clear view of contents While the rustle of the clear bag is a bit noisy, I can live with it, what I really like is that I cn just pull the liner out of the pack—yes it is that strong— and see the contents. A very big plus in my mind.
