Awesome little tent. Affordable. So light, feels big inside for a 1P tent, and vestibule is nice huge. Easy to pitch. Can’t wait to get it out on the trail. Planning put it through its paces in September.

Amazing tent! Very light and easy to set on!
Awesome UL Shelter. So much space and headroom. Used it on a recent Timberline Trail hike and it was a perfect shelter. Set up quickly, very sturdy with the adjustability of the guylines, tons of space inside and within the vestibule. Can’t wait to take it out on more trips!
I purchased this tent last year and I have now used it on several extended backpacking trips. It took a while to get the hang of putting it up but by now, I'm comfortable with the process. Recently in the Olympics, the One was put to the test in several windstorms and it held up beautifully. I have had minimal problems with condensation and I've found that keeping one of the vestibule doors open really helps. I'm very happy with my purchase!
I have been using this tent for almost two years and it has been one of the most reliable items in my kit. Through furious 40mph winds and terrifying thunder storms, The One has been more than I could ever ask for in a tent. A lot of people are intimidated by trekking pole tents but I purchased The One as an inexperienced backpacker and it has worked out great. The One softens the adjustment curve to non-freestanding tents by being so resilient. I have pitched this tent in a few inches of dirt accumulated on a rock on the side of a mountain and slept comfortably. I have recommended this tent to so many people across all levels of outdoors experience. The only people I do not recommend the tent to are taller/larger people who might need more space. To them I suggest The Two! Pros: - Lightweight and Ultra-Packable - Full pitch with only 6 stakes (I bring 4 extra stakes to stake out the tub floor but it's not essential. Two extra stakes can also be used with guylines to stake out the head and foot areas to increase space and performance in inclement weather) - small footprint great for setting up almost anywhere, stealth camping and leaving no trace Cons (completely insignificant) : -Zippers are hard to open with one hand at the bottom corner of the door -cutting a polycro sheet to match the dimensions to use as a groundsheet was really hard because its narrower at the bottom.
While fastpacking along the PCT-Section J in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness last summer, we were caught in a rare August storm. In all, the total cumulation of rain that day, night and through the next morning was around 1-1.5" of precipitation. Coupled with 30 MPH winds, I hunkered inside 'The One' from 12:00 PM until 6:00 AM the next morning. The One' passed with flying colors...not a drop made it inside. I was wanted to extend my gratitude to the entire Gossamer Gear team for The One. In the middle of nowhere, not the place to spend the night wet, cold, and exposed...couldn't be happier...
Love how roomy this tent is for a one-person and so lightweight. Quick, easy set-up. I recommend adding a few extra stakes to your kit & micro filter cloth to wipe down condensation, especially if you’re on the East Coast.
This is the first trekking pole tent I've used. It took me awhile to figure out how to properly tighten the lines to get a good slope. I was skeptical during my first thunderstorm (and it was a doozy!) about staying dry, but I did not get a drop. There was condensation in the morning, however nothing major. Highly recommend!
First trekking pole tent , from what I’ve read about them it takes practice to get them set up properly and here’s my first attempt , day two was windy and it was a little drafty but held up well , the price to weight ratio cannot be beat

I really liked the spacious feeling overhead. Much better in that regard than my old 2-person tent. Condensation was modest on two mild nights on this first trip just completed. I found the first night I misjudged how much space I'd need to stake out the lines. It needs more room than what I'm used to. Still can't figure out how to attach the clothes line. I may want better pegs for the two lines that attach to the poles. I'll decide on that after the next trip. My biggest problem is that after I pitched the tent, I found I wanted my trekking poles to help hoist the bear bag, to safely scramble down the bank to the creek for water, etc. So I'll probably need to get the optional Gossamer tent poles. More weight, but even so, I appreciate the lightness and packability of this tent. I think I'd still make this choice.
I thru hiked the AT with this tent and loved it. It took less room to set up and I could fit into areas others couldn't, making it much more versatile than other tents with a larger footprint. I also had my tent fully up in minutes and it packed away much faster than people with tents much more fussy. Other than a few failed pitches in storms, user error more than design flaws, it kept me safe in thunderstorms and high winds. I loved the ample headroom and in spite of it having a small footprint, I was able to easily fit all of my gear inside, putting my pack behind my head without being on my full size inflatable pad. There were some condensation issues when camped near water sources or when humidity was high, but the tent dried super quick.
I loved this tent. I hiked the PCT with it in 2024, and it stood up to rain in Washington, snow in the Sierra, and everything in between. The zipper on the bug netting failed 3 days before I hit Canada, after 2600 miles and 150 nights, I wasn't too upset. I was able to repair it once I got home, and got to send it with my friend as she completed the trail in Washington this year. From there, she took it up Mt. Whitney before it was retired finally to the great trail in the sky. This tent is THE BEST value for the money of any UL tent. It's great if you're not sure if a trekking pole tent is right for you, easy to set up, lightweight, and packs away into nothing. I miss this tent. :(
There's definitely a steep learning curve if you're used to a free-standing tent, but it's worth it for the reduced weight and bulk in your pack. It was breezy the first time I set it up in the backyard, but the tent seemed to wait patiently for me to get the poles in and adjust the tension. It was already standing by itself with only one pole! My previous tent had a separate rainfly, so things would get wet between putting up the base and adding the fly. With 'The One' you can keep the floor dry during set-up unless it's blowing a gale, in which case I would opt for a trail shelter anyway if available.
I recently returned from an 8 day segment on the JMT July 23rd. I have to say I was a little disappointed with this tent. While I appreciated the 2lbs of weight savings and improved interior space that this offered over my North Face Storm Break 1, there were a few things that made me wonder if it was worth it. One, the condensation that some people mention in the reviews had began dripping onto my forehead in the morning if I accidentally bumped the tent. Somehow, I can't imagine what it would be like with actual weather. Two, while the width is nice (I got the 2 person) it still isn't really quite long enough for a six foot person as again, your face will hit the sides of the tent and make condensation drip on your face and sleeping bag. Three, this tent takes up a lot of real estate. It was difficult to find a good space to pitch it many nights on the very busy JMT. Finally, it isn't all that easy to set up, particularly if you don't have any soil to drive in stakes. I am guessing some of my complaints are related to the fact that there is a tradeoff for comfort many times with ultra light backpacking, but I was hoping for something a little more.
I finally got around to trying out The One that I bought last winter and I have some thoughts: First of all, I'm a big gal, so I really don't like that the door is so small. All of my other tents have good sized doors so trying to squeeze through this one is a challenge. I haven't used it in wet weather yet, but I suspect that I will probably drag in water and mud just trying to get in and out (and since I'm older, I have to get out several times a night to pee, so I'm not looking forward to that). Secondly, I'm concerned about how the material is going to hold up. The floor feels really flimsy. I guess time will tell on that one. I *do* like how easy it is to set up, and of course I love the price point and how light it is for a tent that isn't made of Dyneema. All in all, I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with this one, or go back to my slightly heavier tent that is much easier for me to get in and out of. I really wanted to like The One, and it just feels like it falls short for me.

Super compact and lightweight.
This is a superior well thought out product. I dont believe in partcipation trophies so a five star from me is earned not given for average equipment. I am 50+ 6'1" and weigh more than 300lbs. My previous tent was an R company 2 person half dome. This leaves that in the dust with quality. I switched to this after loosing my hiking partner. This leaves room Inside and out even with my above averaged size self. I need to be careful with my feet touching the end at night and I wish it had a zipper on the back side for throughflow of air but those would add weight and are a worth while sacrafice that I knew going in. Those small wishes do not out weigh everything else I gained. Good job!!
Great tent: packs small and light and is roomy. I am 6'1". Great for bikepacking. I made a couple very light poles from an old tent for when I don't having hiking poles. setup is easy after doing it a couple times. Condensation can seem to be a problem but I pack it up totally wet from condensation and rain and when I set it up it is dry within 15 minutes inside and out. I use a bag with Dri-Down, which is what most down bags have now anyway. Wind never a problem but I usually setup in a somewhat protected spot. Used in many trips in Los Padres NF, No. California, Sierras and New Mexico.
I really love The One. I took it with me on a 4-night backpacking trip in Denmark last month, where we experienced a mix of sunny, windy, and rainy weather. The Gossamer Gear The One performed excellently in all conditions. I had some initial concerns about wind and condensation. After setting up the extra guylines, the tent handled the strong winds quite well. As for condensation, it wasn't much of an issue. On windy and rainy days, the ventilation seemed to work effectively, minimizing condensation. On rainy days without wind, I made sure to wipe down the inside of the tent before getting into my sleeping bag and again when I woke up. There were no problems with dripping or wet gear at all. I strongly recommend The One, if you are carrying trekking pole anyway, and if you are looking for a budget friendly ultralight tent for one.
I recently used my One for a bikepacking race, where weight and bulk need to be minimized. I had previously been using a bivy, most recently with a tarp overhead. The One seemed luxurious in comparison, with plenty of headroom and space in the tent and under the vestibule to stash clothing and other items. Prior to the race I had laid the tent out on the floor to get familiar with the layout, guy lines, etc but the race was the first opportunity to actually set it up. It took a bit of fussing but was relatively easy to get everything straightened out. I brought extra guy lines to connect the corners of the tub to the corner stakes. Camping on the shore of Lake Superior, there was a lot of overnight condensation but none inside the tent itself, possibly due to a light breeze. Breaking down camp in the morning was easy and fast. I used the poles GG offers for this tent, and they are short enough when folded to fit into my fork bag on the bike along with the tent and stakes. Overall, super happy with the purchase and I'm eager to test it on more adventures.
Perfect for hiking, very light, easy to assemble, very strong material, spacious inside, especially for a one person tent. Had no condensation in the morning, had no issues with the rain. Looking forward to testing it in the wind. Amazing product.

“The One” is an outstanding design. I’ve looked at and purchased a lot of tents but nothing close to this. At 70 years old every ounce counts. This tent provides great shelter at very low weight. Condensation is a bit of an issue being single walled but this is easily manageable. The shelter is warm and easy to erect. Like any shelter the user needs to add an anti-friction system to keep from sliding into a hole but overall, I can’t think of anything to improve this product. Note: I suggest taking enough stakes to stake the tub.

Very light, very easy to setup.
Light and practical Very light and easy to set up with the pegs and poles. Enough space to put my backpack and all my stuff inside. Convenient to have the front door away from the mosquito door. A lot of space to put shoes and other stuff out of the tent, still sheltered. 2 loops to hang a torch or whatever is necessary. A very handy side pocket to put small stuff. Havent tested it in the rain yet. Happy with my tent!!
Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Being a bit oldschool and kind of dependent on paper instructions which don’t come in the bag, I found the set up at first I little complicated. After watching the video about 5 times I finally got it figured out. Actually it was ridiculously simple. I love not having to set up tent poles. I think the floor could use a few stakes but I’m just going to buy extras. I love how easy it is to access the door since it’s to the side of the center pool. For the price you cannot find lighter. Plus, it’s from Austin, Texas so I’m going to be a forever Gossamer Gear Guru!
Great Tent for Thru-Hike I was looking for an affordable and light tent for my PCT thru hike this year and am more than pleased with the GG The One. It held up the 2650 miles on the PCT and I barely had any issues with. Like with any single walled tent, condensation was the biggest issue with this tent but was easily managed with keeping one or both of the doors tied back. To add more room, tying out the head and foot box guylines was incredibly helpful. I was always able to find a stick to set up on the guylines to add some height to them. I do wish I would have purchased the shelf that goes with it as the 1 pocket on the inside couldn't hold all my things (electronics bag, toiletries, glasses case etc.). It also had a few holes about 2000 miles in but it was easily fixed with gear tape. It kept me dry during heavy rains and protected from the wind. I know loads of people say it doesn't hold up well in the wind but I did not find that to be an issue! As long as your guylines are tight and you've staked it down well it will be fine. We had some brutal winds some nights and I never had an issue or felt like it was flapping everywhere. I used tyvek as my groundsheet as the plastic groundsheet breaks within a couple uses. Overall VERY happy with this tent! I am 5'9 and had plenty of head room when I sat up and fit in it really well!! It's an easy pitch and very happy that I had it with me for my thru hike!
Just used this and overall for the price I love it. I am in California where there is little humidity so not condensation problems for me.
Very pretty and light, will be very good use in summer and spring. I used it on a mild winter night and condensation issues were as expected. The space inside is great and so easy to set up

Excellent tent, extremely lightweight, it's a bit on the small side for me. I don't like having my gear on the ground. But overall great tent so I went with the "The Two".

BEST TENT EVER!!! used this on my thru hike on the NPT!!!! Little bit of condensation but what single wall tent dont have any. Pretty huge vestibule partnered up with the LT5 and its probably the lightest set up ive ever done Easy to pitch and pretty spacious and great headroom for a one person tent! After this bought almosy every single piece of gear at GG Thank you Glen van peski for this awesome UL brand!!!!
