Do I need trekking poles to set up The Two? Yes. The Two is a trekking pole tent and requires two trekking poles or a dedicated pole set at a recommended height of 125 cm. No poles are included, but we do offer two trekking poles options and a dedicated Pole Set sold separately.
How does The Two handle condensation? Single-wall shelters will always experience a level of condensation. The Two addresses this with two retractable vents. Open them on calm nights for airflow, or use the velcro stays to seal things up in heavy weather.
What is ClearSkies™ fabric? ClearSkies™ is Gossamer Gear's custom shelter fabric: It combines 15D PFAS-free recycled Robic nylon with a 20D dope-dyed ripstop grid for exceptional durability, UV stability, and tear resistance at its weight. An advanced silicone and PU coating (1200 mm) fully seals the fabric and creates an extremely hydrophobic surface that shakes off morning dew with ease.
This formulation also delivers a hydrostatic head rating of 4,923 mm—surpassing the average water resistance of a three-season tent and nearly matching the 5,000 mm standard of heavy-duty mountaineering shelters. It provides 2.35 times the water resistance of previous Gossamer Gear iterations while maintaining the same ultralight weight.

I have been using this tent all summer. I love that it packs smaller than my old Zpacks Duplex, I don’t have to worry about rolling it a special way to pack it up, I can just stuff it into the stuff sack and be on my way hiking. I also love the updates to the venting on the top of the tent, it keeps the condensation down even when I am camping in rain or close to water. The bathtub floor is great and the new guyline system keeps the bathtub nice and tall even when you pitch a super tight tent. I spent the night in a windstorm and this tent held up way better than I expected, with other tents I know I would have been up all night fixing poles and adjusting my pitch, this thing held up like a beast in wild windy conditions. Five stars all the way, plenty of room for me and my dog and all my gear. Can’t wait to spend more nights in this thing.
Having owned a Gossamer Gear backpack and "The One" shelter, I knew I'd like "The Two" as a legit ultralight shelter. And yes, it is well constructed. It doesn't feel cheap at all. The zippers work well, the stitching is solid, and the stake-out points are not flimsy. I've set up trekking pole tents before, and this one is quite easy to set up compared to others. I like the interior pockets and the attachment points for an interior clothesline at the peak. This shelter is incredibly light and easy to pack. Score! FYI, two pads, approximately 24 inches wide, just barely fit side by side in this tent.
The biggest "con" of this tent is that it is just a tad too short for my 6'1 frame. When I lie on my 3 or 4-inch pads in this tent, my feet are two or three inches from the side of the tent if I'm lying on my back. That's fine until I put my quilt on my feet. Then the quilt touches the side. I do fit in this tent, but the quilt over my feet often brushes the wall. That's no big deal...unless it's wet or damp. Then my quilt gets damp or wet. I have pulled the guylines out by the feet and head, which certainly adds room. But my feet still brush the wall even with the guylines out, although not as often.
In summary, if I were under six feet tall, I would give this tent five stars or more! As it is, it's a bit too short for me to use in wet/rainy weather. If GG added just 2 or 3 inches to this shelter, it'd be gold for me!
The Two is awesome. Already had The One so I knew pretty much what I was getting. Just used it on quick 3 night trip. Temps at night in high 30’s. One night of rain. One night of decent winds. Didn’t budge or flap. Not a drop of condensation. Set up quick and easy. Very, very pleased.
I have had this tent for 5 years and apart from some minor tears in the floor it has stood the test of time. and even with those tears, I just order the repair patches, and we are back in business. When I originally ordered I paid the extra dollars to have them seal the seams and honestly that was the best decision I ever made. I have slept in this tent through thunderstorms and never got a drop of water on me. The vestibules are huge with plenty of space to put all my stuff. I have also been extremely impressed with the condensation control. I have never woken up wet from condensation. It's extremely breathable and can be adjusted to let more or less air in. I would buy this tent 10 more times.
I finally had the chance to test the tent in pretty dismal weather at our annual ultralight group camp, and I'm impressed. The Two is huge inside, easy to set up and stood well in heavy wind gusts. Condensation was far less than I expected. It's definitely coming with me on my JMT hike this year. After the Gorilla, this is the second GG item that exceeds my expectations.
I used the two hiking the Benton Mackaye Trail in May 2024. It was always such an easy set up, so light, and never let in loads of water (my hiking pals were drowning by comparison in their tent). This thing saw me through a tornado watch on night 4, and held up no problem. I love my two tent so much. Favorite piece of gear by far.
Awesome tent, I only wish I got it sooner before I stopped backpacking as much. Still great for just camping though. My only complaint is moisture on the inside of the tarp but that's pretty unavoidable without a second layer at the expense of weight. You can't go wrong with anything from these guys!
Took it hunting last weekend. Great quality, super light, kinda short for a grown ass man. I’m 6’3” and glad I got the Two. I had to sleep diagonally because I’m definitely too tall for the tent. Super easy to setup, quiet and stable in the wind. Definitely would recommend.
I took this new tent out for a quick overnight trip. Let's just say that the tent was put to the test. Major storm, wind, rain. I was inside praying it would hold up and it did. It did way better than expected. I am sold. So happy so far with this product.

This tent is a palace! I have been in other two person tents, and I was really considering swapping to a 1 person tent for weight. However, this tent is perfect in terms of size and weight! If you want to live in luxury in the backcountry, this is the tent for you!
I took the Two with me on the Fjallraven Classic USA in Colorado this year and it was amazing. I was solo but like the bit of extra room and the weight difference from the One was worth it to me. After 3 days and 30 miles this is my go to backpacking tent. I used the GG LT5 trekking poles and it worked great. On night three we had a heavy rain early in the evening (never got wet inside) and bad wind storm overnight (25-30 mph winds) and while the tent swayed some, it never fell down. Highly recommend!
My wife and I love this tent so many things about it that makes it much better than costlier brands. I could go on for days about all the positives. However like any gear some simple updates to bring it up to the times would make it 10 out of 10. First of all, switch to magnetic closures vs the current toggle system, guys make the floor symmetrical so we don’t have to worry about which end we are placing down, and let’s go offer a dcf or an affordable polyester vs the current stretch when wet material. Lastly please go ahead and add line locks from the factory to the side panels. Outside of this the tent is amazing.
Bought this because of the steep discount on sale. I used it in a state park over the weekend. Overall I’m impressed, plenty of room inside, easy to setup and take down as well.
I had some condensation inside but that’s to be expected with a single wall shelter. The tent looks a lot larger than it actually is, the vestibules make it look bigger than it is, the actual foot print is not that big but there is plenty of space for two people inside. It rained on me this weekend and I had no problems with leaks or anything of that nature.
I’m not sure if you could get two rectangle inflatable pads inside it but two mummy pads will work just fine.
I highly suggest you get a footprint for this tent, the flooring is very very thin. I used a tyvek one that six moons designs sells, I think tyvek is better choice versus polycro in this circumstance to help the tent floor last longer.
I’ve seen comments about missing clothesline in the tent, it’s in the stake bag that’s included you have to install it. I would also suggest adding some elastic cord to the wall tie outs it’s easier to attach to with the included line than the grosgrain loops they have on there. If you add colored ones ie red for head, black for feet it makes it easier to set up.
After spending a very long and very happy time with The One, experiencing rugged, cold, and wet adventures that were nonetheless breathtakingly beautiful, on the PCT, in Scotland, on Mallorca, and with the "little" gray one never letting me down, even freezing solid with 10 centimeters of ice on Fuller Ridge, I've finally decided to take advantage of its "big brother," to treat myself to a palace. A palace that offers the same qualities, with an even greater sense of space. I can hardly wait to finally experience it in the spring. Thank you, Gossamer.
In the past, my partner and I have used either a standard "two-person" tent or a tarp-bug net combo. We just took The Two out for our first trip and loved it. "Look at all the head room!" "We don't have to climb over each other to get out!"
Add in the light weight, easy set-up, and great price, and I'd say we made an excellent choice.
First test set up was not too bad. My 40lb puppy loves it and doesn’t want to come out. I also have “The One”, so I am pretty familiar with what I’m getting and look forward to getting it out on the trail in a couple days.
This is perfect for my first solo backpacking trip to North Manitou Island. I already set it up in the backyard and I'm so pleased with it. Very spacious.
Rode out a hurricane
This tent is great. I was using it on a 5 day trip through backcountry Yosemite and it held up wonderfully. Set up each night was easy, drying in the mornings was fast, and man is the weight worth it. The end of my trip happened to catch the edge of hurricane Hillary, and even though we definitely got wet (but cmon, it's a hurricane... everything got wet lol), the tent stood up to the winds and kept us safe/warm. Other people in my group had water pool up beneath their tents and even seep through the floor, but that didn't happen with us. Water only started to come in from the walls after hours into the storm, when the material was just too inundated to keep it out anymore.
Final thoughts -- I really like this tent. If you're worried about condensation, just make sure you learn how to pitch it correctly. If you're worried about rain, maybe don't take it out in a hurricane, but really any tent will be pushed to the limits in those conditions. The weight is a huge selling point, and I really couldn't be happier with the performance of this tent. The space it provides is awesome -- I'm 6'4 and have never been able to stretch myself fully out in any tent, but I can in this one. Finally able to sleep without my feet pushing against the far wall, and when I've taken it out solo I feel like I'm in a spacious paradise. Looking forward to even more trips with it!

I have had this tent for about 4 years. I love this tent! Very light and easy to setup. I have had this tent on multiday rain trips that we moved camp every day and it worked great. Set it up and took down in the rain and it dries fast. After I have learned to set it up correctly, I have very little condensation if any, even on the rainy days.
Amazing Tent!
Picked up this tent before a 30 mile weekend canoe trip. Wanted to pack as light as possible, no sense in dragging extra weight through the water. I was excited to see how small and light it was upon arrival. Packed in the bag with the poles it was no bigger than a loaf of bread and still around the 2lbs mark. It fit perfectly in my dry bag and I was off. After 10 miles of paddling each day it was a relief to spend all of 5 minutes (seriously, I timed it on day 2) setting up the Two. Inside was more than enough room for me (6 feet tall) and a few gear essentials. The clothes line inside held a dome tent light and my swimming trunks that needed to dry for the next day on the water. Having the dual entry and opening on both sides really helped cut the heat during these hot Georgia nights in August. There was some dew and condensation the next morning, but 10-15 in the sun and it dried right out. This is a great tent and will be a go to for me for quite a while.
Condensation A Huge Problem
Just got my tent this week and went on a weekend backpacking trip. Turns out, it will "rain on your face" all night long due to condensation buildup INSIDE the tent! We were at over 10,000 feet in the mountains in Wyoming...definitely not a "wet" climate. The amount of condensation buildup and steady dripping on my face all night makes this otherwise convenient tent unusable ... at this price point a REAL DISAPPOINTMENT.
Great tent and customer service
Had the tent out for a few trips this summer and it's been great so far. I experienced some moderate condensation one night (totally manageable though) when camping near a river after a rainstorm with the flaps closed, but had it out several other times with zero condensation. Took it bikepacking with the optional tent poles and it performed great. Super light, easy to set up (even when exhausted at the end of a long day), extremely spacious for one person (I'm 6'2") and pretty comfortable for two with nice big vestibules. Not to mention that it's very reasonably priced compared to other ultralight tents.
Customer service was also great -- my first order had shipping troubles and the folks at Gossamer Gear shipped me a second tent to make sure it arrived in time for an upcoming backpacking trip. I just shipped the original tent back for free when it eventually arrived.
Nice but wet
Really lightweight single layer tent, sets up pretty easy. Comfortable. But for me, almost useless due to condensation issue. Maybe it's because I live in the Pacific Northwest, but just me alone in the tent, with flaps open, I had drops landing on my face. I love Gossamer Gear and have a couple of their backpacks and other gear, but I was disappointed that they do not allow returns, even though I only used it one night. Strange how not many reviews had similar issue, but I will sell it rather than keep it.
We fit more than 2 people in there
Really enjoyed the threesome I had in this tent. It was super spacious for all 3 of us even though it should only fit 2 people. Had 4 people in there at one point.

the best tent
This is an amazing tent! Easy to set up after watching the YouTube video and packs small and light, making it perfect for backpacking. 2 nights it rained and not a drop of rain went in the tent. It also dried extremely fast. My husband is 6’4” and he was so impressed with how much space the tent provides. Highly recommend.
Not bad
I’ve never had a single walled tent before. This is half the weight of my usual tent but comes with a cost. I’m currently thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail and have used it about 5 times so far. The condensation on the inside is strong. My pack towel gets soaked before I can get it dry. My regular tent never had that issue. Also I noticed a small hole in it already. I don’t even know what from so I had to patch it. It’s roomy and now that I got the hang of setting it up, I’m getting used to it. Also, I do like that it’s roomy but sometimes it’s hard to find a stealth spot because of how big it is. If I section, I wouldn’t take this with me but the 3lb weight savings is worth it while thru hiking.
